Melty Way soft opening evening May 31
Melty way in the Family center just west of Chili's on Fort Union finally opened. I had the grilled cheese Rueben with the chipotle mayo dipping sauce. It was amazingly good. I also ordered the peanut butter cookie chocolate ice cream sandwich. Amazing. Give it a shot. Be sure to try the sauces.

Wasatch Broiler and Grill
We have been watching the remodel of the old Bahio's in the Union Heights shopping retail center on 13th East and about 77th South into a new Wasatch Broiler and Grill. It is a very tasteful and contemporary store with a nice upscale menu. Our group of five had the Calamari plate, the Blue Cheese Steak Salad, a Chicken Pasta dish, a New York Steak and I had the Beef Ribs and Chicken. The prices start at $10, but the portions are very generous and I could easily split a lunch meal there. Everyone loved their food. We chatted with the owner for a while. This is his fourth Wasatch venture and he is a pro. There is a good looking full bar there. I think you can guess which plate is which. I don't usually order beef ribs, but these were perfectly prepared and delicious.
I think it is the same niche, feeling and pricing as nearby Porcupine and definitely a step or two food-wise above Iggy's.

Blue Lemon Cottonwood Heights Great Prices, Delicious Food

Monday, February 6, 2012
Blue Lemon NW corner of Highland Drive and Ft. Union

Blue Lemon opened their third location today. I had the Brisket on 7 Grain ($9) with sweet potato fries and a lighter eater had the Butternut Squash Soup with a roll ($4). Both were outstanding. The service was fast and efficient. It's a little more expensive than some of the bakery cafe's, but it's probably worth it. Nine out of ten.

Sonny Bryan Foothill

Sonny Bryan went in where Tuscano used to be around the corner from Red Butte Cafe in the Foothill Shopping Center. We ordered the Tuesday special, burnt tips along with a pulled beef sandwich, one soft drink and a water. We chose the okra and the baked beans as our two sides, total cost with tip, just under $20. The interior of the building is cozy and warm, the great smell of smoked barbeque wafting through the air. All and all, very good food. The smoked tips were tender, not mushy, still a little crisp with generous portions. We took about 1/2 of them home. The pulled beef sandwich was good, plenty of beef, but a little on the salty side for us. The beans aren't the sweet brand with jalapeno. They are more vinegar based and I thought a little one dimensional, but still pretty good. The okra pieces were fried and good and we dipped them into some of the sauces to check them out. You can check their website out at www.sonnybryans.com.
All and all, very good and we'll go back to try other things. It wasn't very busy there at 1:00. Give it a shot.

Roots Cafe 35th S. 2300 East, SLC Ut

Here's a great new fun place to get delicious unique sandwiches, salads, smoothies, soups, coffee and teas as well as breakfasts. Pictured here is a chicken walnut cranberry sandwich on sour dough, a roast beef with glazed sautéed jalapenos on sour dough, homemade sweet potato chips and a wonderful bowl of carrot ginger soup. Total price with one drink about $20. It is small, personal, excellent food. Don't be in a hurry.

Cineopolis Movie tickets are $19.50 per ticket
We are staying in our condo in San Diego (Del Mar) California and decided to see a movie. We noticed the theater had been remodeled and the new name and walked up to buy tickets. The price for two tickets was $39. Pretty annoying but we decided to go ahead anyway. The seats are like international first class seats with foot rests and settings going all the way back to sleep setting. I'm posting a couple of the menu pages where you can have anything from popcorn to wine, sushi and fancy sliders delivered. Kind of fun, but I hate spending $50 or $60 to see a movie and have a few treats.

What a great menu! I'd say at least 1/2 of the customers ordered food, some 1/2 way into the movie
