Salmon Burger anyone?

I took a chance and ordered the Salmon Burger at Normandy in Holladay today. Fantastic. Not fishy, plenty of guacamole, moist. Loved it. $9.99

Greek City Grill

Corner of 62nd South and Highland near Xcel Fitness. I think this is one of the best local Greek food places in the area. Today I had the Pastrami Burger which was excellent. They don't overwhelm you with Pastrami and their sauce is great. I have to rate it a little above the Apollo Burger for the same price. Gigi had the Vegetarian Gyro. It was fresh, juicy, plenty of feta cheese. She ate the whole thing.

Daniel's Fine Chocolate in Holladay

Daniel's Fine Chocolate on Holladay Blvd. next to Parry's and The Store on the North is a great place to pick up some delicious homemade treats. Dan came out and gave us several different samples of different chocolates. He has been dreaming about opening this store for a long time and finally, here it is. Check it out!

Meditrina 1394 South West Temple

As we started eating our second tapa selection for lunch, a beautiful melted brie along with wine and garlic soaked slices of mushrooms, I suddenly felt like we were somewhere in the West Village in NYC off Bleeker Street eating what fancy rich people eat. What a great restaurant Meditrina is. I notice that they also have a fairly interesting but less expensive front page menu with $8 dollar sandwiches and salads.

The topas run $7 or so and are the real reason to go there. Budgetwise, it's like going to a high end sushi joint. Four tapas and a delicious basil panna cotta with a cherry balsamic wine reduction for dessert pretty much filled us up, but it would be a little light for Doug Cartwright. We had the Mushroom and Brie, Bulgogi Pork Belly, Hummus Plate, Stuffed Piquillo Pepper along with the dessert. I give the food an A. The server was excellent as well.

It is a crazy location, but give it a try. It's worth the trip.

Expensive and Rich

After eating a pretty good Burrito Bowl at Chipotle on Fort Union, we drove over to Sweet Tooth around the corner from Five Guys at the Family Center to get us a little treat. We bought a "Foxy Bar" and about a dozen cake bites. All delicious and rich. Pictured here is about $15 worth of product. Geeze, kind of expensive.

Fratelli's in Sandy at Quarry Bend

Fratelli's in Sandy is run by a family with Italian roots and the food is homemade and delicious. We had the pesto chicken pizza ($11) which would have fed us both plenty, as well as the tomato and bread salad, about the same price. The tomatoes were delicious and top notch and the flavorings of both dishes were fantastic. For dessert we split the gelato dish which was three nice scoops: pumpkin, pistachio and then the delicious and fiery Chocolate Pepper. MMMmmmm. Man, really good. The service is excellent, people personable, professional. This visit was a 9 out of 10.
